Class Descriptions

TrimmingThrowing for Beginners: This class is for students who have little to no experience on a potter's wheel. The class teaches the foundations of wheel throwing. Students will first learn the principles of clay and how to center clay on a wheel. They will then move at their own pace to making finished pieces.

Intermediate Throwing: This class is for students who can successfully make a cylinder on the wheel. More advanced techniques will be explored and students will expand on their clay working abilities. Students will have a chance to learn complex forms with multiple steps.

Surface Design: In this class, we will explore ways in which to vary the look of finish pieces. Textures, handle/strap making, sprig molds, stamp making and application, texture rollers/roulettes and carving techniques are just some of the topics we will explore in this class. **This class is limited to intermediate level throwing and/or hand-building and up students only**

Clay Therapy Night: ThiFootedMugss is a relaxed classroom enviornment where students will have the chance to socialize and create as the desire.

Date Night: Do you want to try your hand at pottery but you are not sure if you are ready to make the commitment for a 6-8 week class? This is a single session class designed for you to try your hand at working in clay. Make a date for yourself or book 2 spots and share the experience. You will either create and decorate a slab constructed pot or try your hand on the potter's wheel. Typically, beginners will not make a piece on the wheel at the first attempt, so if you are interested in coming away with a finished pot, we recommend making the slab piece. Your pottery will be glazed by our staff in your choice of our glazes. Finished work will be for ready pickup in 3-6 weeks.

*This class has no prerequisites. All materials and firing are included.

**Out of town? We can ship your piece to you for $20 additional.

Open Studio: Pottery MeritBadgeThis is unstructured studio time. Students will have free time to work in the studio. Students will have access to equipment and are encouraged to bring their own hand tools to accomplish their own goals.

Boy Scout Pottery Merit Badge:  Leslie is a BSA pottery merit badge counselor. We would love to help you earn your merit badge in pottery, so give us a call or contact us here to arrange it. Eligible boy scouts will be able to complete the merit badge in two, 2-hour sessions. Cost for the merit badge is $40 per scout, with a minimum of 5 scouts to run a class. All tools and materials will be provided.
